The toolbars are fully customizable, so that you can choose the items that help you increase your productivity. There are some useful shortcut buttons: 'go to root directory', 'go to parent directory', 'go to home directory'. The interface can be set to look like Windows Explorer or Norton Commander, depending on which you like the most. You can also compare and keep directories up to date. I'd like to mention the possibility to synchronize a local directory with a remote directory and the possibility to execute PuTTY SSH terminal. Sessions and the last used remote or local directories can be remembered by the program. You can connect using a SFTP, a SFTP (which allows SCP fallback), or a SCP protocol. In order to establish a session with a remote machine, you need to provide a host name, port number, user name, password, and a private key file. The main difference between the two is that WinSCP is used for uploading files to a server, by using public-key cryptography in order to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data exchanged between the two computers. When I used the program for the first time, I was amazed by the resemblance with Total Commander.
